I will attempt to help stars gain a little popularity point in readers of TVB Generation. I'm sure you all noticed stars in series that are good looking, and their acting aren't all that bad, but why do they get such small roles? Who knows? TVB Generation gives opportunities to stars according to their likings. Such likings that sometime make some stars rather mad and leaving TVB like Gilbert Lam and Hawick Lau. Gilbert for example found leading roles at ATV, while he was at TVB he received little second rate parts. The TVB Generation torch will now lit on two stars that are deserving, and hope they don't walk out on TVB series.
Michael Tong
Michael Tong has been around for long, long time now but still no big opportunities are given yet to this day. Nothing but supporting roles, after supporting roles. Even one of his best friend who entered the TVB film market after him, Kevin Cheng, has received leading roles in over three series now. He has the looks, the acting skill, but lack support from TVB.
Claire Yiu
Claire Yiu has been around since the time of White Flames with Charmaine Sheh, and Sammul Chan. Both Charmaine and Sammul are at the top of the food chain now, but Claire is still doing tiny character roles that either have little screen time or gets killed half way through. Her "sister", Sharon Chan, has been around for a considerably shorter time but is moving at strangely quicker paste. This former Miss Asia runners up has potential, but no chances to apply it to.
Best of Luck Claire & Michael! Keep fighting for that Breakthrough! |
