Top O.L. Killers Last Year *CoMpLeTeD*

O.L. stands for "Office Ladies". In Hong Kong Office Ladies make up a large portion of the demographic. They are the ones usually working the 9 to 5 jobs, coming home and watching TV at night. They are also the ones who buy entertainment magazines to read at work, and most often they are the ones who vote for popularity awards like The Next Magazine TV Popularity Awards so its crucial to become popular among them.

An OL "Killer" is an actor who basicly have the gain the admiration of these Office Ladies based on their appeal. For example, actors like Ron Ng and Bosco Wong are NOT considered OL Killers because they are too young looking, and do not have the rugged mature men appeal yet.

So who were the top OL Killers of 2006?

Raymond Lam: The older women-younger man have always been considered semi-taboo in any society but the asian society more than any. Raymond gave them a little taste of the quote unquote forbidden fruit. Raymond's character in La Femme Desperado showed a great appreciation for older women openly pursuing Melissa Ng declaring his love, he also had focus on his career. All the business attire also made him look older & more mature. This appealed the OLs leading some newspapers tro call him an OL Killer.

Kevin Cheng: Under The Canopy of Love was a series that revolved around the workplace. There were several OLs in the series, and Kevin played a businessman. He gave them a bit of the "what if" fantasy. What do I mean? Here: "What if a man like him was actually walking around the office?" Through out the series he was dress in very sharp business attire looking very dashing thus adding to the apppeal. His character also ended up being very successful, and women a man who is successful in his love life & career.

Michael Tse: Another character from La Femme Desperado & another businessman. OLs probably considered him an OL Killer because his character was successful and he loves children. But the key part is women ABSOLUTELY LOVE to think that they can change a man. They always have it stuck on the mind set that they can shape & mold their man to become the man of their dream & all women's dreams. Michael's character was a changed man, he went from a cheating husband to a devoted father & spouse, all change by one woman, Sheren Tang. Sadly, in real life men don't change that easily. I'm a firm believer of "Once a cheater, Always a cheater."

Frankie Lam: After FH, Frankie was label an OL Killer, but its nothing new. He's always been an OL Killer. He was one of the top OL killer of the 90's. He attract OLs because his character in FH was very charming and sweet. He was also dressed in classic "OL Killer attire", looking sharp in a business suit. Besides all the onscreen aspect, he is also known for being a very good husband. His public relationship with wife Kenix Kwok gave OLs a very good image of him.

Moses Chan: Moses Chan has a great personality that shines onscreen, and his mature look is definitely appealing to OLs. Although all his series last year were all ancient, he managed to still win over the OLs of the modern day. His image is also very good, he presents himself very well when he is ask about rumoured girlfriends.

Kenny Wong: This one is a no brainer. Kenny Wong was flaunting his body in 80% of his screentime in The Dance of Passion. He followed that up with a billion shirtless pictures from the press taken of him at public promotion events. I think its safe to say that OLs are on the average are 30-40 years old, so it would be weird for them to look at young teenage looking stars shirtless. However, men roughly their age like Kenny serve as eye candy.

Final Remarks & Commentary:
I think the reason people online as a whole view the younger generation artistes as being the most popular, but in reality people in Hong Kong like the OLs dominate in terms of determining who is popular. TVB artistes who become singers might want to target this demographic, because they are the ones working and making money & buying the CDs. Teenagers these days do not buy CDs anymore, they DOWNLOAD, illegally that is. It sad to say I've done it before and I'm sure almost every here has done too.

Anyways, the OL Killer breed will always live on. Over the past few years I'm sure you all have heard of The Legendary OL Killers who's popularity ran rampid in the 90's & early 2000's. Actors like Chilam Cheung, Felix Wong, Deric Wan, Simon Yam, William So, Gallen Lo, Alex Fong Chung Sun, Louis Koo, and the list goes on. I'm keeping my eyes out for other potential OL Killer Hall of Famer.

By the way, I consider myself somewhat of an OL. I'm very attracted to the more mature looking actors because I'm 18 now soon to be in college. If I go crazy over guys like Bosco who attract like mostly 13 year old girls, its just seems silly to me because it makes me feel like I'm one of the young teeny bopper fanatic who are in middle school & meet after everday after school to chat about their idols.

Random Blogging

I'm sorry for not updating. I've been so busy with school, work, and some personal problems. I'll try my best to get back on track with the site. For now-some random blogging.

Did Anyone Else Notice: I took me almost 2 months to finish the Brink of Law, not because it wasn't good, but I didn't have time. The series overall was very good, I really love the ending. The writers did a really good job bringing it to an end.

But one thing really bother me. The relationship between Stephen Wong Ka Lok & Shirley Yeung in the series. They got married when THEY ARE COUSINS! Stephen's character's mom played by Michelle Yim is the older blood sister to Shirley's dad. I know that the series all they ever did was kiss, but it is a bit strange. I kinda felt like the series was promoting incest which I found a little repulsive.

I've seen series set in ancient times when cousins married each other but most often they are cousins who are related only by marriage or one was adopted. But I never expected a series which is set in the 2000's to have such a weird pairing. Did I miss something? Anyone care to explain, because I just don't get it. The last time I checked incest was illegal in Hong Kong.

How Tall Will You Be??? I know after my height posts I might of spark some curiosity for people to know how tall they will be. Here is a website I found that has growth calculator which predicts how tall you will be when you are an adult based on your parent's height, your gender, and your weight. Keep in mind that genetics determines about only half of what your height will be so these numbers only serve as a basis. Your enviroment affects the other half with stuff like nutrition & wellness.

Here Is The Site:

*The site give you two different method to test, but I found that The Gray Method Predictor is more accurate for me. I think results may vary.

TVB Actresses & The All Important Height

When I did this post I was so AMAZED. I thought maybe only 4 or 5 actresses were above 5'7, but my god! Just take a look at the list and you'll know what I'm talking about.

This List ALOT MORE Extensive Than The Actor's List. Its also in ascending order as requested.

Don't forget, Women are able to wear heels, so if you're curious to see how tall they are with heels just add about 2-3 inches or about 5-7.5 cm. Once gain, if "cm"measurements are easier for you just remember 1 Inch=2.54 cm & 1 foot=12 inches. I know some of you guys are using the metric system in your country.

(There are plenty of actresses that are in the 5'4 range so I think people shouldn't say 5'4 is too short be an actress. After all, the requirement to be in the TVB's Acting Class is 5'4 for women.)

Esther Kwan: 5'4
Leila Tong: 5'4
Shirley Yeung: 5'4

Flora Chan: 163cm-5'4
Annie Man: 163cm-5'4.
Angela Tong: 5'4.

Selena Li: 5'4.5
Sheren Tang: 5'4.5

Nancy Wu: 5'5
(For some reason, she doesn't look the same height as Gigi or Fiona)
Charmaine Sheh: 5'5
Fiona Yeun: 164cm-5'5
Michelle Ye: 165cm-5'5 (I thought she was alot taller than 5'5)
Gigi Lai: 165cm-5'5 (I thought Gigi was atleast 5'6)
Jade Leung: 165cm-5'5
Belinda Hamnett: 5'5.5

Kate Tsui: 5'5.75 - about 5'6

Tavia yeung: 5'6
Sonjia Kwok: 168cm-5'6
Ella Koon: 168cm-5'6
Maggie Siu: 5'6
Anne Heung: 5'6.5
Mandy Cho: 5'6.5

==============================

The Reason why I put a bar and seperated these actresses is because they are all over 5'7. In order to be considered as a high fashion runway model you have to be at least 5'7. I was so amazed that SO MANY actresses fell into the category where they can be both model & actress. These actresses are the reason I always emphasize that actors must be tall now. I find it interesting that all the original fa dans are 5'7 or above except for Esther & Flora who are both 5'4.

Joyce Tang:170cm-5'7
Halina Tam: 170cm-5'7

Nnadia Chan: 170cm-5'7
Yoyo Mung: 170cm-5'7
Mariane Chan: 170cm'5'7

Maggie Cheung Ho Yee: 170cm-5'7
Kenix Kwok: 5'7
Jessica Hsuan: 5'7
Bernice Liu: 5'7
Fala Chen: 5'7.5 (I didn't know she was this tall.)

TOP 10:

Myolie Wu: 172cm-5'7.71 - about 5'8
Melissa Ng: 172cm-5'7.71 - about 5'8

(Myolie & Melissa Tied)
Queenie Chu: 5'8

Linda Chung: 173cm-5'8
Ada Choi: 173cm-5'8

Tracy Ip: 5'8.25
Niki Chow: 174cm-5'8.5
Sharon Chan: 174 cm-5'8.5
Leanne Li: 5'8.75
Vivien Yeo: 5'9

Tallest Actress AT TVB:

Carrie Lam: 5'10.25. She is 6'1.25 with 3 inch heels on. Thats even taller than Joe Ma.

TVB Actors & The All Important Height

I became interested in knowing TVB actors height. For some reason I've become quite biase towards short actors, I find myself saying "He's kinda short, he'll probably will never be a lead actor" when I see a short actor, and I realize it was wrong of me to think that. But lets face it, very few short actors make it in the industry. However, there are exceptions like Eric Tsang.

I am 5'8-173 cm. At times, I feel confident, but sometimes I don't because some of the men are shorter. I think I make my guy friends feel short when I wear heels because I'm 5'11 with 3 inch heels on. But for the most part they're tall too so its not so bad. Girls are also getting tall now, asian girls aren't that short anymore, most of my asian girl friends are 5'6-5'7 or above.

In a society where short is considered a semi-disadvantage, its become crucial to be tall. How do our TVB actors fair? I gathered as much information as I can to a little report. I had to some math too, converting cm to Inches back and forth. In going through some of the information in forums I found that some of the height information is false. I'll just put some little comments if I have something to say about that certain person. Also, if you need to do personal conversions-1 Inch is equal to 2.54 cm.

Bosco Wong: 180 cm-5'11 (Tall)

Bowie Lam-The forum site said Bowie is 5'10. He's is not 5'10! To be blunt, thats a lie. Almost every actress is taller than Bowie. I found data from another site to be alot more accurate, he's about 5'7 1/2 - 5'8, but definitely not 5'10. That's just too ambitous.

Gordon Lam: 174-5'8 1/2. (Medium Height)

Jack Wu-At AF his profile said that he is 173 cm-5'8, but I'm pretty sure he's not 5'8. Another profile stat said he's is 169 cm-5'6 1/2. I kinda believe the second one more because he does look short onscreen.

Joe Ma-He's thought to be the tallest at TVB but he's not, just wait a little bit to see who is. Joe is 6'1 which is really tall.
Joey Leung- 5'7 1/2, If you guys watched Heavenly In Laws Linda is taller than Joey even when she doesn't have heels on.

Kenneth Ma-6 ft (The Ideal Height for alot of men.)

Kevin Cheng-179 cm-5'10 1/2. (Tall)

Lawrence Ng-5'10 1/2. (Tall)

Matthew Ko-6'1 (Very Tall)

Michael Miu-Apparently he's 5'11, but is it just me or he doesn't look it? he's looks like he's 5'9 than 5'11. False info.?

Moses Chan
-6 ft. (Tall, very good height)

Power Chan-5'7 (Sorry... Short.)

Raymond Cho-OK, one site said he's 176cm-5'9, and another said 5'7 1/2 - 5'8. I think the second one is correct because in Welcome To The House, Sharon Chan is taller than him with regular shoes on.

Raymond Lam-180 cm-5'11. (Tall)

Ron Ng-180 cm-5'11. (Tall)

Sammul Chan-182 cm-5'11 1/2 - 6 ft. (Tall)

Wong Hei-178 cm-5'10. (Tall)

AND THE TALLEST TVB ACTOR IS...

Eddie Li: He appeared in many series like Heart of Fencing & Forensic Heroes. He's 6'3, which is REALLY REALLY Tall. Almost too tall to be model or an actor. He looks weird onscreen because he's too tall. He's at a basketball player's height.
